Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders and conditions related to the spine, nervous system, and musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors also focus on treating the body as a whole because it’s not just about providing you temporary relief from aches and pains – it’s about helping you reach your full health potential.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

The Webster technique is a well-known prenatal care technique used by chiropractors. It is a sacral analysis and treatment to bring optimal pelvic biomechanical function. This is so important during pregnancy because as oxytocin works to relax the joints in preparation for labour, the forces of our body weight shift and can create unequal distribution. This can create not only pain and discomfort but a tightness and torsion in the ligaments supporting the uterus. We aim to foster optimal fetal positioning through Webster technique as well as address any pain or discomfort for the soon to be mama!
During my own pregnancy, my midwife and my chiropractor were my two main care providers (along with those glorious prenatal massages!) Chiropractic care during my pregnancy helped me with some new back pain that developed in my second trimester while encouraging me to be more in tune with my changing body. I love helping women have the best pregnancy they can because I experienced first hand what a big difference it can make.

Post-Natal Chiropractic

For post-natal moms I like to focus on overall health and well-being. Physical manifestations of lack of sleep and less than optimal sustained positions due to nursing and carrying baby present themselves in the early months postpartum. Pain is usually multi-faceted in these cases. We take a look at the big picture and work as a team of care providers to help mamas navigate this period. I like to create manageable treatment plans and take-home stretching and strengthening that can easily be fit into a busy day with a new baby!

Perimenopausal Women

-Osteoporosis
-Decreased muscles mass
-Headaches
-Muscle soreness
-Neck & upper back pain
-Shoulder pain
-Tendonitis

Menopausal women can experience unique health concerns that come with a variety of musculoskeletal symptoms. During my practice I have developed an interest in treating women with these complaints. Hormonal changes in the body have a profound effect and I enjoy keeping up with the latest evidence-based research on menopause to help this group of women!
