Now Offering IV Iron Infusions

We’re excited to share a meaningful addition to our care options here at HealthSpace Collective: IV Iron Infusions are now available for patients struggling with iron deficiency.

Dr Lynne is fully trained in IV iron administration. Through a smooth delegation process with local medical doctors (MDs), or Nurse Practitioners, we’re able to provide IV iron safely and conveniently right here in our clinic. If you don’t have a family doctor or aren’t sure how to request delegation, we handle the communication for you, start to finish.

This is a service we’ve offered quietly for the past year, and now we’re ready to open it to the wider community.

Why IV Iron?

1. Severely deficient or chronically deficient

Oral iron can be difficult to tolerate and slow to work. Many people experience constipation, nausea, or poor absorption and even in ideal situations it can take 6–12 months to correct low iron levels.
IV iron offers a faster, more predictable rise in ferritin, often with just one infusion though some need more.

2. Quicker Symptom Relief

Patients often notice improvements in fatigue, brain fog, headaches, shortness of breath, exercise intolerance, mood, and hair health more quickly with IV iron than with oral supplements.

3. Better Tolerance

Since IV iron bypasses the digestive system, it avoids the GI side effects that make oral iron challenging for many. This doesn’t mean iron infusions don’t come with some risks because they do. But these risks are often less common than the GI side effects most experience with oral supplements.

4. Personalized Treatment

Dosing is based on your hemoglobin,  ferritin, symptoms, body weight and medical history. IV iron allows us to deliver exactly what your body needs.

5. Supports Chronic or Recurrent Deficiency

IV iron can be especially helpful for people with:

  • Heavy menstrual bleeding

  • Pregnancy and Postpartum depletion

  • Chronic inflammation

  • IBS/IBD or celiac disease

  • Thyroid dysfunction

  • Vegetarian or vegan diets

  • Ongoing fatigue despite taking oral iron

IV Iron Infusions at HealthSpace Collective: FAQ

1. What is the process to receive an IV iron infusion?

Here’s how it works:

  1. We book a Pre-iron IV consult to review your bloodwork (we can requisition recent bloodwork if needed), confirm safety and determine dosing.

  2. With your permission, we contact your MD directly to request the required delegation. If you don’t have an MD or you would prefer we don’t communicate with them, we can refer you to an NP to get this delegation.

  3. You pick up your IV iron prescription from the pharmacy, typically covered by your drug plan.
  4. You come in for your infusion.

We manage the communication with MDs or NPs so the process is smooth and stress-free.

2. How many infusions will I need?

Most patients require a single infusion, depending on the type of iron and your ferritin level.
Others who have chronic conditions or very low levels may require more frequent and regular infusions.

3. What does it cost?

We keep our pricing simple:

  • Infusion fee: $180

  • Iron prescription (picked up at a pharmacy): $350–$600, depending on type and dose

    • This is usually covered under most drug benefit plans

We provide all receipts needed for insurance reimbursement.

4. How long does the appointment take?

Your first visit is typically 30- 60 minutes, with the infusion itself taking 20–75 minutes.
Follow-up infusions (if needed) are usually quicker.

5. Is IV iron safe?

IV iron is a safe and well-established treatment for iron deficiency.
You’ll be closely monitored during your infusion, and your naturopathic doctor will review risks and expectations beforehand.

6. Are there side effects?

Most side effects are mild and temporary, such as:

  • Headache

  • Metallic taste

  • Mild joint or muscle aches

  • Nausea

  • Dizziness

  • Low blood pressure

  • Temporary warmth or flushing

Serious reactions are rare, but we monitor you throughout the infusion to ensure your safety.

7. What blood work do I need?

We require:

  • CBC (complete blood count)

  • Ferritin

We love also having:

  • Iron profile (TIBC, saturation, serum iron, transferrin)
  • eGFR/creatinine

These results must be from within the past 3-4 months.
If you don’t have recent labs, we can order them for you.

8. Is this covered by insurance?

  • The infusion fee is typically covered under naturopathic benefits.

  • The iron medication is often covered under drug plans.

Coverage varies by provider, so we always recommend confirming before your appointment.

9. When do I re-check my iron levels?

Labs should be repeated 4–6 weeks after your infusion to evaluate your response and guide any next steps.
